Pecan Festival

This was Pecan Festival, Woodcarving, Quilt show weekend so us gals went.  The Pecan Festival was pretty much the same stuff as we saw at the Christmas Bazaar even the pecan pie.  The quilts and woodcarving were in TRC so we went there to have lunch to browse the exhibits in there.

Carol and Donna are in a deep study about something.

Wyn kibitzing with an artist.

Linda and Anna browsing

I'm thinking Wyn is about to buy something.

Meet Phyllis.  She and her husband ride the gambling bus.

There were even outdoor exhibits.

I love the artwork on this building.  It is the Ralph Emory Civic Center

A real bush.  It goes from green to yellow.

The quilt show was in the auditorium itself.

One of the quilters wore a vest like Deb and I are going to make

A right side up view of the quilt

This quilt is my 2nd best favorite.

Yes this is my first choice
On to woodcarving class.  Some really awesome peices.
Janet and Steve Swearingen live at Lakeside.  She is a brilliant artist.

More of the building.

Lunch in Mexico

How about lunch in Mexico?  Sure!  Let's go.  Anna and Donna went as a pair.  Shhhhh!  I think Donna is ill today. (Wal-Mart worker.)
We traveled a little farther afield in town today.  However at this bakery we couldn't communicate with the clerk.  She knew no English -not even a little.  So Debbie gave her a buck for her donut.......then found out she had paid for them all.
I was so busy taking pictures I didn't take the time to read the sign.  Asaderos - We LOVE this cheese for Chile Rellanos.
Head'em up move'em out.  Let's go to the duty free store.

So here is a cart full of "stuff" we are importing into Mexico.  Once we walk across the line with it we shall turn around and export it back into the US.  The bad news is that many of our group aren't quite able to make that small trek.  We persevered though.

All done with the import export process and heading home.

Wyn and Ki at lunch.  Yes the background it The Pink Store

I swear I am going to make a DVD of the number of times I have gotten this pose from Debbie.

Now what are these two up to?  They look guilty.

The band serenades us

And of course the beggars.  They start them young
Bye.  See you in 2011.

Rock Quarry with the North Dakotan - Gail

Gail from North Dakota was only in the park a short period of time; but we all hit it off and she became one of "us".  (Whatever that is)  Her husband Roger is a County Commissioner in Grassy Butte, ND so he can't stay south long.  He is going to run again this fall so next year doesn't look good either.  But in the mean time, make hay and all that.  The rock quarry is north of Hatch.  There was Gail, Debbie and for a little while Bob and Terry on this jaunt.
Bob helping get a rock to the pickup using my rolling box.

You can't move that rock Debbie.  You need help.

Good Grief, she's at it again.  Nice rock though

It's always nice to have friends help you carry special rocks.

Gail is having a hard time figuring out which ones to NOT take.

We made it home and now we must wash, arrange, rearrange and check them out again.

Gail calls this her bird rock.  It's special
Gail does 4-H and she is taking many of the rocks home and has a project in mind to use them on.
See you in 2011 Gail.
