Gringo Appreciation Day 2010

Darrel being.................Darrel
Dennis, Sharon, Cliff, Karen, Sue, Darrell, Jeri and Ed all moved to Deming for a month.  Sharon and Dennis had been to the Gringo Appreciation Day in 2009.  Ken and I decided to drive down to Deming and go to Palomas, Mexico with them for this "party".  Palomas is a tiny town south of Colombus New Mexico.  Their main industry is Gringo.  Gringo glasses; Gringo teeth and Gringo eyes.  On this day the businesses all closed about 10 a.m. and everyone went to "The Pink Store" to serve the Gringos.  The back patio is large enough for about 500 people.  That day there was about 200+ people.  And we paid for nothing.  Food and drink was free.  The margaritas were made in a 55 gallon drum and I have no idea how much they made but it was a lot.  They had other things and a lot of beer.  They had a band; dressed up characters; dancers and beggars.
First there was nachos and margaritas

then we bought hats to cover our heads

The plaza beginning to fill up

Then there was hotdogs or polish dogs AND margaritas

Did I say there was nachos?

Another view of the table and the plaza

Hang on to that table Sue.  Did I mention the margaritas?

The gal with the red face was the tall heart on stilts.

The margaritas were GOOD.  Right Sue?

I stayed far away from the margaritas so I drove home that afternoon.  Sue on the other hand really loved the margaritas.  All is all is was a Valentine; St Paddy's kind of day.
