We left about 9 to head down into Hells Canyon on a road I've been on many times; but simply couldn't remember. Yup! I turned the trailer brakes up a notch too high and burned them out. Spit! Spit! Spit! And I did remember going off Halfway Hill. Please Lord be with us tomorrow.
Deb has all the pictures that are to be had for the trip to Osbow. These are pictures of Hells Canyon, Oxbow (Lilacs blooming!) & Homestead. We went clear to the end of the road on the Oregon side to the trailhead and D/D/L/S were off!
Ahhh the puppies have found the water, although it was too steep for D/D.
Still a long way away on the trail. The trail is one Ken helped build back in the day. Find Dave and a dog.
We all finally decided that Babe and the 5th could get through this tunnel - but we aren't going to try it. Where would they turn around?
Now, this, is a grade. It's the Kleinschmidt Grade and hasn't changed much since the vehicles were way narrower. NOT going up this. :)
There in a crack in the hills sits a house and to the left up higher is the garden.
I guess they have all they need: fish, game; vegetables; water AND gushing water in the spring......maybe. Not for me, thanks.
I walked around the trailhead while they were gone. The tenter/packer has himself a nice setup there in the lush grass.
Tiny, tiny purple flowers cover the ground in Hells Canyon. No name - remember I'm the one that kills green stuff.
The Idaho Power RV Park we stayed at. It was built back when a luzurious RV was only 26' long. :)
There were many beautiful Lilacs which made it smell so nice.
Hmmm Brenda told us about yellow Lilacs - need to Google that. Deb and I've never heard of that color.
