Denver Spring Fling 2012

We made it to Denver and back.  It was stressful; but wonderful to see the "little" boy gsons and our two girls.  We went to the zoo and this bird summed up how we feel as we try to get some rest.

Look!  Ethan is 5' tall.

And KaCe is 6' tall.

Oh man!! This makes my knees really ache!
Finally - Egad (Aedan) makes up with Grandad

If I sit here long enough the big Owl Butterfly will emerge.

Tada!  A Butterfly Butterfly!

There is always time for Legos!

We are exhausted but content!  Our eye checkup went well and the kid/gkid fix good until the middle of May!  Memories - that's what it's all about!

Headed for our mid-winter break

We are doing okay.  The weather has REALLY been gritchy!!  Ken is stiffer than ever, but it appears there is relief in sight.  With making sweatshirts (23 to date); crocheting necklace (too numerous to coune), hat bands (don't EVEN go there) and going to Las Cruces I haven't been the best at the blog this winter.  It's MY blog so I get to approve all excuses.  It has been TOO cold.  BUT I have kept the stats - Clay has been a trooper to keep them up to date. He makes sure I know to give credit for sitting outside.  So here they are to date:

OK so we are headed to Denver today.  Shaping up to be "a time".   6 adults; 5 kids, 3 dogs in a two room suite.  Interesting does NOT even begin to describe it.  It WILL be nerve wracking but will provide memories.

Sharon has been on dialysis 2 months tomorrow.  She is doing great.  She wanted to go out for beer at the Legion then on to pizza last night.  It's been 2 months since she's been  We had a good time.  We're even planning a gambling trip.  We'll go south into Texas and see who gives the best deals.

2 or 3 months ago we got a letter that said the rent was going up.  Ok so deal with it.  It's still cheaper than what we were paying at Brand X.  Last Saturday the announcement was made that the city council (and one member in particular) was making hooking into the city sewer/water system too difficult (expensive) to do; so Steve elected to stay the way it is.  RESULT:  Lowering the rent!  Not all the way but a good portion.  And once again this year we want to THANK the owner of Brand X (and a city councilman) for being the great guy he is.

I received news last night of the suicide of one of my artist friends from Sante Fe.  Robert Bluestone was a rock for me when Mom was in the final stages of cancer.  He would call and even sent her one of his guitar albums.  Then when KaCe passed he called me weekly to just find out how we were doing and to encourage me when I finally went back to work.   He leaves quite a legacy in combining art and medicine.  He spent time in the chemo units simply sitting for an hour and playing his guitar.  His wife Rebecca went through cancer twice with him by her side.  I really don't know the particulars - but I actually don't care.  His memory is a sweet one in our family.

Wiley got Dad up early by running back and forth all over him.  :)  Guess he's excited to get on the road so guess we'll leave an hour early.
